Pages I created for NUDM 2014 and 2015
In my time at Northwestern, the most meaningful thing I've been involved in is Northwestern University Dance Marathon (NUDM). NUDM is Northwestern's largest student organization and one of the largest entirely-student run philanthropies in the nation, raising over $1 million annually for different charities. We hold events, plan, fundraise, and prepare all year long, cultminating in a dance marathon where students dance for 30 hours straight.
From 2014-2016, I danced and was a member of the Technology Resources committee, designing and coding pages on our main website, nudm.org. I focused on creating interactive and easy to understand pages to meet the needs of users loooking to learn more about our organization.
For NUDM 2016, I was one of only four juniors selected as a member of the NUDM Executive Board. My co-chair and I led the new Technology and Analytics committee. We built a strong base that will impact our organization for years to come. We focused on improving efficiency and the user experience. We updated the main website, started a new internal website for committee members, set up NUDM's first database and data collection system, managed the online store, and initiated a new mobile application project. We significantly increased online revenue and traffic, and NUDM raised over $1.2 million, the most in its 43 year history.
On the leadership side, we recruited and led a 30 person committee with weekly meetings. We taught new committee members how to code and create webpages, and by the end of the year, many members who had not known any code at the beginning were responsible for entire pages. We also worked to instill a sense of community and a committment to NUDM. The following year, our committee had one of the highest percentages of returning members.
This year, I'm one of the co-chairs of Special Events. I lead a 30-person committee that plans fundraising events throughout the year and works with the Athletics department. Some of our events include:
